Kitchen remodels for Oak Park homes
Oak Park is famous for Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home and Studio, its Prairie School architecture and its Victorian homes. A remodel here has to respect that history, and exterior work in a historic district may need review by the village. 123 Remodeling is a Chicago-based design-build firm in business since 2008, and we began serving the West suburbs in 2025. Our designers plan the layout, cabinets, countertops and lighting, and our licensed contractors build it, so you work with one company from start to finish. New cabinets and counters are often straightforward, but moving plumbing or electrical, or removing a wall, usually needs a permit from the Village of Oak Park. We handle permits as part of your project, along with any condo or homeowners association approvals your home requires. Kitchen remodeling questions
How long does it take to remodel a kitchen?
The average kitchen renovation takes six weeks, but it depends on the scope. Changing the layout or removing walls adds significant time. Design and material selection come first, and your project manager will give you a detailed timeframe.
How much does it cost to remodel a kitchen in Oak Park?
It depends on the scope. If you keep your appliances and floors and update only the cabinets and counters, a medium-sized kitchen can cost around $20,000. Replacing flooring, appliances and backsplash or changing the layout can raise that to $55,000. In 2026, the average kitchen remodel in the Chicago area costs $32,000.
Do I need an interior designer to remodel a kitchen?
Even if you want to copy a kitchen you saw on Houzz, a professional should plan the cabinet layout, to make the most of your space and still look good. You can make many of the decor choices yourself. Our in-house designers offer interior design as part of our design-build process.
Do you need a permit to remodel a kitchen in Oak Park?
It depends on the work. Cosmetic updates may not need one, but plumbing, electrical and structural changes usually do. Permits in Oak Park go through the local building department, and we handle them as part of your project. If your home is in a condo or homeowners association, its board may also need to approve the work.
