Home remodeling for Wilmette homeowners

Wilmette is a lakefront village known for the Baha’i House of Worship and Gillson Park, with homes ranging from vintage houses near downtown to mid-century neighborhoods farther west. With that range of homes, we start each design from the house itself. 123 Remodeling is a Chicago-based design-build firm in business since 2008, with a North Shore office in Northfield. Our designers and licensed contractors take your project from first design to final walkthrough, so you work with one company from start to finish. Planning a remodel in Wilmette

Structural, plumbing and electrical work usually needs a permit from the Village of Wilmette. We handle permits as part of your project, along with any condo or homeowners association approvals your home requires. To learn more, read about building permits in Chicago and the suburbs and adapting older North Shore homes for modern families. We bought this house in November, and the people who owned the home before had remodeled one of the bathrooms, but it was remodeled in an antique way. It had the old Victorian bathtub with the legs. The problem with it was that it was completely non-functional and very so small (beautiful-looking though). Then they also had a nice sink, but they had no counter or cabinet space. It also had a bidet, and we have never used a bidet. Our bathrooms needed remodeling badly. We found 123 Remodeling, and we are so glad we did. Now we have a normal-sized tub! They also replaced cabinetry, so our bath now has more space and storage. Tony M., Wilmette, IL. Rated 4.8 by our customers. Read more reviews.

Home remodeling questions

Can you provide a cost estimate for my project?

Yes, and it’s free. We’ll visit your home to measure the space and discuss your needs and budget, then send an estimate with budget ranges for each stage of the renovation.

What does your design fee cover?

The design fee covers the plans and renderings our staff prepares for your project, with unlimited design revisions until you’re happy with the result. It’s included in your final contract total, so it isn’t an added expense. Once the design is final, we move on to the next steps: material selection, shopping, permits and, finally, construction.

Do I need an interior designer for home remodeling?

If you want your home to be as beautiful as it is functional, a designer’s input is a must. Our in-house interior designers are part of our design-build process, and if you’d like to bring your own designer, we can work with them.

Do you need a permit to remodel a home in Wilmette?

It depends on the work. Cosmetic updates may not need one, but plumbing, electrical and structural changes usually do. Permits in Wilmette go through the local building department, and we handle them as part of your project. If your home is in a condo or homeowners association, its board may also need to approve the work.
