Bathroom remodels for Lake Bluff homes
Lake Bluff began as a 19th-century lakefront camp-meeting resort, and it still has a small village center and historic homes. Older homes here often call for updated kitchens, baths and systems that fit the character of the house. 123 Remodeling is a Chicago-based design-build firm in business since 2008, with a North Shore office in Northfield. Our designers plan the layout, tile, vanities and fixtures, and our licensed contractors build it, so you work with one company from start to finish. New tile and fixtures are often straightforward, but moving plumbing or changing the layout usually needs a permit from the Village of Lake Bluff. We handle permits as part of your project, along with any condo or homeowners association approvals your home requires. To plan your budget, read about what a bathroom remodel costs in the Chicago area, and find bathroom remodeling ideas for North Shore homes, or see our bathroom remodeling services. Bathroom remodeling questions
How long does it take to remodel a bathroom?
The average bathroom renovation takes two weeks, and a small bathroom can take as little as one. There’s usually a short design and material selection phase before construction begins.
How much does it cost to remodel a bathroom in Lake Bluff?
It depends on the scope. If the plumbing fixtures stay where they are, a remodel can cost around $19,000. Replacing floors, changing plumbing and layout or converting a tub into a shower can raise that to $35,000. In 2026, the average bathroom remodel in the Chicago area costs $24,000.
Do I need an interior designer to remodel a bathroom?
You can remodel a bathroom without one, but a professional designer helps you make the most of the space, choose the right decor and fit the room to your home’s style. Our in-house designers offer interior design as part of our design-build process.
Do you need a permit to remodel a bathroom in Lake Bluff?
It depends on the work. Cosmetic updates may not need one, but plumbing, electrical and structural changes usually do. Permits in Lake Bluff go through the local building department, and we handle them as part of your project. If your home is in a condo or homeowners association, its board may also need to approve the work.
