This smaller condo kitchen (4′ x 12′) in Chicago’s North Shore suburb, Evanston, IL has been completely gutted and rehabbed to create an open layout with eating area and accessible storage.
What We Did
- Removal of old wall (see before/after image below) dividing dining room and kitchen, installation of island counter-top eating area, complete with storage and electrical outlet.
- Reconfigured placement of all appliances for optimal space saving and functionality. Moved the placement of light fixture in dining room toward new island area. Removal of old track lighting and installation of recessed can-lighting in kitchen, creating more head room. (see before/after gallery below for complete transformation)
- Hardwood flooring replacing the older tiled flooring, new white subway tiled back-splash with new matching counter-tops.
- Installation custom floor-to-ceiling white cabinetry replacing the older pine cabinetry and all white appliances (full-size refrigerator, gas range/oven, microwave and dishwasher – see images below).
123 Remodeling’s condo kitchen remodel design experts, used a black-on-white color combination to create the visual space, while the movement of appliances and removal of dividing wall added usable functional space for dining, cooking and entertaining.
