Located at in Chicago’s Gold Coast, this comprehensive condo remodel seamlessly blends modern functionality with bold, tailored design. Set against stunning, panoramic views of Lake Michigan, what began as a targeted bathroom and bedroom update beautifully evolved into a broader renovation, delivering a highly sophisticated, cohesive, and accessible living space.
The foundation of the renovation focused on improving the home’s flow and everyday safety. Throughout the apartment, the floors were expertly raised to be perfectly level with the entryway, eliminating uneven transitions and tripping hazards. The primary bedroom was then transformed into a dramatic, luxurious retreat. We installed custom wainscoting painted in a rich, deep hue, built out expansive new closets, and laid plush, textured Fabrica carpeting. Anchored by a beautiful Williams Sonoma bed and accented with warm brass lighting, the room is now a serene, elevated space that perfectly frames the lakefront windows.
The bathroom remodels required significant behind-the-scenes work, including a full plumbing upgrade to all-copper pipes. To visually open up the space, we removed the bulky soffits and strategically relocated the exhaust fans directly into the showers. These foundational improvements paved the way for stunning cosmetic updates. The primary bathroom now feels like a high-end spa, featuring heavily veined black-and-white marble tile from TileBar, a sleek double vanity from Wayfair, modern brass and glass light fixtures from West Elm, and premium hardware sourced from Studio 41.
As the project progressed, the scope expanded to include a breathtaking kitchen refresh that dramatically shifted the room’s aesthetic without requiring a complete gut. We preserved the existing granite countertops but entirely changed the mood of the room by painting the cabinets in a striking, sophisticated ‘Wrought Iron’ by Benjamin Moore. A beautiful new layer of texture was introduced through a bold, diamond-patterned checkerboard floor and a glossy subway tile backsplash by Edward Martin. Finished with sleek faucets from Signature Hardware and illuminated by brilliant brass track lighting from Lightology, the freshly updated kitchen opens beautifully into the great room, serving as the perfect finishing
