What we did
This brand new Chicago fence will add privacy and safety for the large backyard. A typical fence installation involves setting fence posts about six to eight feet apart. The end posts are set first and a guideline stretches between posts to align all the posts in between.
For this project the posts were set using a concrete pack on top of two shovels full of gravel in the hole will also set the post. All wood fence posts are about buried about 1/3 of their total length in the ground.
A wood preservative is painted on the section of post that is underground to protect the wood. A grooved joint is used to add rails to the fence posts and a simple board fence is constructed.
